Q & A

Who would most benefit from Wholesome Therapy?

Since the focus of Wholesome Therapy is on transforming one’s outlook from negative to positive and concentrating on how best one can reach inner equilibrium, such an intervention is more effective for those who are of sound mind and have a clear grasp of reality.

If Wholesome Therapy is about reinforcing one’s belief system, what happens when one holds erroneous & irrational viewpoints?

The Exploration Phase of the therapeutic process examines the person’s total belief system. If negative, erroneous and irrational views are evident, it is then worked through in the Investigation Phase.

One cautionary note, some cultural or religious belief systems may appear irrational to another’s set of beliefs and yet it is correct for the person who adheres to such ideas. In general, such views are so ingrained in the person that to challenge them would further debilitate the person. Thus, it is best that the therapist is sensitive to cultural and religious diversity.

It appears ‘Acknowledgement’ denotes passive acceptance & resistance to fight & challenge the crisis?

No. This phase enables the person to see the reality of their predicament as is, without any illusions, and despite of it, actively strive to find a solution and resolve the problem.

Example: a terminally ill person should put all his/her effort to seek out all types of treatment in the hope of a cure, while acknowledging the fact that cure may not be possible.
